The design required a 26-ft steel beam system supported by HSS 3.5” round posts, including one post that continued into the basement and sat on a newly poured concrete footing. Before starting, we provided the homeowner with a Certificate of Liability Insurance, issued directly by our brokerage in their name and property address, an important reassurance for clients undertaking major structural work.
The result was a perfectly flush ceiling that opened sightlines across two sides of the home, dramatically improving the flow and feel of the main floor.
The engineering solution required a long, continuous steel beam capable of carrying loads from multiple directions. Proper load transfer was achieved through strategically placed steel posts, including one extending into the basement and supported by a new footing.
The structural phase was completed in roughly one week. With demolition already handled by the homeowner, our team focused on beam installation, levelling, and preparing for inspection. The city inspection passed without issue, allowing the homeowner to continue managing the remainder of the renovation independently.
The completed structure delivered a wide, open-concept main floor with a perfectly flush ceiling and improved sightlines throughout the home. The project stands out for its clean execution, efficient coordination, and the dramatic improvement it brought to the home’s layout.
We found Alex on Trustedpros. After interviewing 6 different contractors, we decided to hire Alex and we are SO glad we did. Alex is exceptionally good at his job. He’s meticulous, professional, ethical and knowledgeable. Alex provided us with options and explained each options thoroughly. Through his explanations, we can tell he’s very knowledgeable. His professionalism is a rarity in the renovation industry. Alex showed up when he said he would, did the work according to schedule and most importantly, he respected our home and our time. Alex took a lot of pride in his work and made sure his workers were held to the same standards.
We usually don’t like to refer tradespeople to friends and family because their work can be a hit or miss. But with Alex, we would not hesitate. In fact, we have already referred him.
Alex, thank you for your endless patience with us throughout this process. We asked a lot of questions and gave you a good run for your money.;)
